Parklands Highrise

This 8 storey retirement complex comprises 53 flats all of which are sold by Life Right in terms of the Endowment Scheme. The building is equipped with two lifts, has in house coin operated laundries, a double en-suite guest room and, under cover parking with access controlled by remote devices.

A typical large flat in the Parklands complex is North facing with views of the park-like valley; equipped with intercom and distress bell systems. All the flats are secure, due to the presence of 24 hour security personnel, a security perimeter fence with electronic beams and an armed response Security Firm is on standby to respond to a call from security.

The “Oak Room” is a comfortable communal lounge commanding a magnificent view of the valley. It is the venue for regular social occasions, such as the weekly “Happy Hour”, tea and chat, exercise classes, craft classes, bible study, in-house celebrations and functions. A midday meal is served once a week and is well patronised by residents and family members.

A dedicated manager sees to the needs of residents and a nursing sister is on call during normal working hours. In addition, a nursing clinic is manned in the residence three times per week.

Three elected residents represent the residents on a management committee, which meets every two months to report back on all areas of finance, maintenance, residents’ affairs etc. This committee is chaired by the Executive Director of Berea Gardens.

Parklands Cottages

23 cottages have been constructed below the Parklands Highrise building at the lower end of Jarvis Road. The cottages are sold by the unique Life-Right Endowment Scheme.

The development comprises One one-bedroomed cottage (98 m2) with full bathroom, guest toilet and open plan kitchen and 22 two bedroom cottages (125 m2) comprising two bathrooms, open plan kitchen and spacious living area.

All but two of the cottages are north facing. Garages are equipped with remote control doors and low maintenance building finishes have been chosen. The site is fully secure, with a perimeter fence, that is electrified and additional beams provide added security. All perimeter security is linked to a manned security desk and to armed response. This desk is manned 24 hours a day and all cottages are linked to the security desk via intercom systems. Residents enjoy a full garden service and access to all of the Berea Gardens’ Service Centre facilities and clubs. Meals can be delivered to the cottages and all facilities and services in the Parklands Highrise building are available to cottage residents.

Three elected residents represent the residents on a management committee which, for practical purposes, is combined with the management committee of Parklands Highrise.
