The Valley

This 6 storey retirement complex comprises 108 flats, all of which are sold by Life Right in terms of a unique Endowment Scheme. There are two centrally situated lifts, four coin-operated launderettes and a double en-suite guest room.

Fifteen flats on the ground level all lead to their own gardens. There is a beautiful view of the valley and stream from the Roof Garden, an indoor/outdoor communal entertainment facility with braai areas built in for use in inclement weather.

The elegant and spacious Reception Hall is manned around the clock by Security Reception Officers (SRO’s) who, inter alia, control access to the building.

Security of our residences is of paramount importance. All flats are equipped with a two-way intercom and distress bell system, connected to the SRO. In addition, electronic beams are located inside the perimeter fence. If interrupted by unauthorised persons, alarms are set off at the reception desk and at an armed response security firm.

There are 10 different types of flats in the complex. All are north-facing and are provided with patios.

Access to the three undercover parking decks is by remote control. Routes from parking bays to flats are secure and under cover.

The Blue Lounge is a popular venue for celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, etc. and is equipped with a kitchenette.

The John Orpen Indaba room is a dedicated facility for activities of a more general nature like exercise classes, carpet bowls, residents meetings and prayer meetings or bible studies.

This facility also boasts two braai areas and has a commanding view of the Ihlanza River valley which is home to 135 identified bird species, mongoose, dassies and the occasional otter.

A dedicated manager sees to the needs of residents and a nursing sister is on call during normal working hours. In addition, a nursing clinic is manned in the residence three times per week.

Three elected residents represent the residents on a management committee, which meets every two months to report back on all areas of finance, maintenance, residents’ affairs etc. A residents’ committee is also in place to ensure that input is received from residents.
